Today we had a quiz briefly covering each of the main things we have done so far. We also reviewed multiplying exponents and then learned about dividing terms with exponents.

September 28
Today we rotated through eight different stations, reviewing all material covered so far and hopefully trying some of the more challenging worksheets at each station. We also learned how to play crib and farkle. I want you all to know how to play crib, farkle as well as sudokus, because these are math based games that will strengthen your understanding of math.
If anyone has any extra crib boards at home, we'd love to borrow them for the semester so students can play when their homework is done.

Thank you Mr Ostoforov for covering our class this afternoon while the volleyball teams travel to our out of town tournaments.
Mr Ostoforov is starting by handing back Wednesday's quiz, reviewing Wednesday's homework, and then giving you today's quiz on Distributive Property.
Today is all about evaluating. You will practice plugging numbers in for the variable to come up with a solution. You will start off easy and then get into some trickier ones. Don't forget BEDMAS and watch your signs!
You do not have class on Monday, so we will all be together again on Tuesday morning.
I am handing out a review sheet of all we've covered so far and a short practice on these topics.

Today we started the EXPONENT UNIT. We talked about how to set your notes up so that it is easy to find the unit in your binder/ notebook. I also shared that you will be getting marks for an organized notebook.

September 15th
Today was about working with rational numbers and getting comfortable with them again. We reviewed how to add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions (aka rational numbers).
When adding and subtracting rational numbers, you need to get a common denominator.
When multiply rational numbers, it is easier if you simplify numerators and denominators first. It's okay if you don't, but the number can get pretty big and you'll have to reduce it later.
When dividing rational numbers, you "flip and multiply" the 2nd fraction. (also called taking the reciprocal).
The worksheets are for your practice (and the riddles are fun).
I asked you to try the four questions I put on the board. If I can figure out how to upload the picture, I'll do that after volleyball practice tonight. See you tomorrow morning!

Rational Number review
Today was a review of working with rational numbers (fractions). Remember rational numbers can be written in the form m/n where m & n are integers and n cannon equal 0.
To get used to working with fractions again, we were finding common denominators so we could put fractions in order from smallest to largest.
HINT - do a factor tree for the denominators to find the LCM
